If you have a tight schedule to visit a water town outside Shanghai, and still wish to see a classical town of old China, then Qibao is a mini one in Shanghai. (Photos here tell more)

Compared to Zhujiajiao, a small water town in Shanghai, Qibao is the closest ancient town to access from downtown Shanghai. Visitors could go there via Metro directly, and it is very straight forward.

If taking metro, this is a direction: metro line 9 stop at Qibao station, then you are there.
Metro operation hour at qibao: To Yanggao Middle road, the first train is 05:42, and the last 22:28. To Songjiangxincheng, the first one is 06:11, and the last 23:11.

When visiting Qibao, after water, boat, bridge, and architecture, don¨t forget to try snack foods even they may not be authenic as the original ones.

BTW, entrance to Qibao town is free, and some spots inside town may ask for fee to enter.
